As the Director of Data Science at Generac, you will be tasked with creating and executing the data science strategy. Your responsibilities will include leading the charge in data analytics innovation, providing valuable insights that align with business objectives, and utilizing your expertise in data science, statistics, and operations research to redefine AI-led measurement, monitoring, and predictions at the company. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and lead junior data scientists and analysts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics models and machine learning algorithms to address business challenges and uncover new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers, to define analytical requirements and implement scalable solutions.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis and validation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of your models.
  • Present complex findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating data-driven insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning, continuously exploring new tools and technologies to enhance our analytical capabilities.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.



Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Engineering/Math/Sciences or related field


Work Experience:

  • Requires 7 years’ experience in Data/Analytics including 5 year’s management experience. 
  • Significant experience applying advanced analytics to a variety of business situations and a proven ability to synthesize complex data. 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Comfortable in a client-facing role with experience leading teams.
  • Likes to distill complex results or processes into simple, clear visualizations.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated data science concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Passion for building things 
  • Comfortable working with modern development tools and writing code collaboratively.
  • Advance knowledge of modern machine learning techniques and their mathematical underpinnings and ability to translate this into business implications for our clients.
  • Strong project management skills.
