Generac Power Systems, is looking for a talented  Product Designer to play a key strategic role in helping us build an environmentally sustainable future and a reliable electric grid.


Our products combine renewable sources and energy storage to help homeowners make the most out of their solar panels, reduce their energy consumption, and power their home when the electricity grid fails. We also work with utilities and solar installers to monitor and control large fleets of solar systems to make solar energy more accessible to the average homeowner.

As a  Product Designer, you will be the principal design owner for our customer facing PWRview application, as a part of a fully collaborative Design team. You will be focused on designing the IA and flows for the application, discovering new product features and optimization opportunities, as well as full-stack UX Design delivery. You will work closely with our customers and Product Managers to understand customer business needs, and translate those needs into solutions, using visual workflows and interactions to guide the development teams to make your creations reality.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Product Management team to be the Principal Design Leader of our consumer facing PWRview application, driving clarity of communication, resolving priority conflicts, and promoting design best practices.
  • Understand our users’ goals and pain points thought discovery and research and distill challenging or ambiguous problems into clear solutions for the product team.
  • Collaborate closely with Developers, Customer Support and Product Management to evaluate the value and feasibility of your solutions.
  • Drive end-to-end UX Design methodology to refine low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes through testing and iteration and deliver high quality UI specifications and flows to our development team.
  • Work closely with front-end developers and the design team to define and implement the new Generac & Ecobee design system.
  • Coordinate with other design team members to ensure a consistent design language across our product ecosystem and drive high design standards.
  • Present and communicate designs with clarity to cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and customers, and capture feedback to refine designs through rapid iteration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years full time working as a UI/UX Designer or Product Designer, ideally within Agile teams
  • Figma or design tool equivalent such as Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Experience with responsive design to accommodate various device and screen sizes.
  • Experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing.
  • A minimum of 1 successful mobile or web application launch.
  • A well-rounded portfolio, demonstrating a strong understanding of customer problems, and highlighting a solid design decision process.

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.  The salary range for this role based in Vancouver is $100,000 - $132,000.  This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled.  Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location.  This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long term incentives.
