The Business Analyst - Sourcing is responsible for helping implement and administrate software solutions in most effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program and communicating them clearly to facilitators and partners with the goal to support the execution and continuous improvement of sourcing processes, supplier performance and advanced analytics Managing, prioritizing and providing detailed functional requirements of products or features to the software development team as identified by the product owners or managers, is the key element of the position. This must be completed consistently to insure efficient delivery of solutions. Under the direction of the Sourcing Process Excellence Senior Manager, this position    will work with business groups, functional area, users and development team members to maximize the benefits of the applications to their business needs.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Writing and consistently delivering actionable, detailed stories and business requirements, based on direction given by the Sourcing product or process owner, analysis and insights gained from stakeholders (business SMEs, software development team, UI/UX). Foster collaboration across team to achieve optimized solutions.  
  • Responsible for working with stakeholders to define organizations business requirements in order to shape the output of projects and ensure they deliver the expected business benefits. 
  • Assist in implementing new business applications and enhancements including testing and integration.
  • Have a focus on continuous improvement with the business, reviewing both processes and systems.  Propose modifications and enhancements to improve functionality or address any issues that arise.
  • Review, analyze, evaluate, and document requirements of business users.
  • Use of data to drive analysis and decision making regarding feature priority, and process optimization in assistance of the product owner.
  • Investigate problems and data discrepancies, diagnose root causes, identify problematic trends, and work on resolving them.   Conduct report outs on KPIs.
  • Updating, implementing and maintaining BA best-practice processes within the development team and also cross-functionally.  Documentation and communication of results. 
  • Users Training as needed, internal and external.
  • Support systems administration activities as assigned
  • Collaborates with IT counterparts to  testing components and systems to see how they integrate with other systems and applications and if they perform to standards.
  • Collaborates with IT to plan the timing of and coordinate upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Supports other related Sourcing Process Excellence activities, projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience providing Business Application support


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience in a business analyst, software development, or product management role (full-time, internship, co-op, or contract experience).
  • Prior software development or support experience including web applications. (Ariba, Smartsheet, PowerBI, BI, etc)
  • Previous experience supporting and implementing software applications and administrating systems
  • Previous experience creating and using queries Microsoft SQL.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Prior experience on agile software development teams.

  • Knowledgeable in conceptual modeling; has capacity to see the big picture and envision possible solutions.
  • Ability to understand the perspective of the business and end users, identify opportunities, and apply that understanding to solution proposals.
  • Ability to ask strong questions to help the team see areas that may lead to problems.   
  • Ability to facilitate a team to consensus on scope, design decisions, and implementation decisions.
  • Ability to document requirements formally or informally depending on the need of the project.
  • Familiarity with requirements techniques such as user stories, use cases, and informal modeling. 
  • Excellent problem solving skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work as part of large implementation team that executes in agile fashion.
  • Knowledge of utilizing scrum/agile ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, and sprint review processes to deliver software solutions.
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
  • Ability to utilize IT Best Practices and IT tools related to application support, implementation, and documentation.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
