The Director of Tax is accountable for ensuring compliance with international, federal, state, and local income tax regulations, as well as overseeing tax planning and accounting for income taxes. Additionally, they will assist in M&A due diligence, tax structuring, and related work while building, managing, and developing a team of professional tax staff. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with business groups, service providers, and other tax professionals to fulfill their duties. Lastly, this role involves leading a team of managers.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for completion of federal, international and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support. Oversight of the tax returns for the Company’s international subsidiaries. 
  • Optimize the Company’s effective tax rate. 
  • Responsible for the support of the Indirect Tax Director when needed. Responsible for audits of federal and state income tax and state and local tax filings. 
  • Responsible for accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) in the US and international subsidiaries. Coordination of accounting for income taxes for international subsidiaries. Responsible for transfer pricing and management fee arrangements.
  • Supervise professional and paraprofessional staff. Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues. Ensuring that appropriate internal controls / SOX compliance are in place over accounting for income taxes. 
  • Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax computer applications. 
  • Assist the VP and Treasurer with tax planning issues as required. 
  • Assist the VP and Treasurer in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes. 
  • Responsible for annual R&D tax credit study. Assist with M&A due diligence, tax structuring and integration.
  •  Work with all levels of management across different functional groups. 
  • Act as SAP super user within functional area as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. 
  • Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development. 
  • Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

 
Work Experience:

  • 10 years of related experience in a senior tax role.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of database and general ledger accounting computer application systems.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions for decision making purposes.
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
  • Multi-faceted direction and planning in a manufacturing environment.
