Pika Energy, a subsidiary of Generac Power Systems seeks an experienced, capable engineer to plan and execute design validation testing for a rapidly-growing family of clean energy products produced through an international network of contract manufacturers. The Design Validation Test Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that new and upgraded products meet design specifications and customer needs across a broad range of applications and operating conditions.  He/she will work closely with leaders in Pika/Generac Product Management, Product Development, and Core Engineering groups, and communicate results for rapid feedback and learning.  Pika Energy is a leading provider of clean energy products including smart battery systems, inverters, power converters, and building energy management solutions.  Pika combines the pace and energy of a tech startup with the resources of a fast-growing Fortune 1000 company. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

      Review documentation for new and upgraded product designs

      Research and Procure Alternate Components for cost reduction or improved availability

      Plan comprehensive, aggressive test programs and protocols to validate products

      Set up test apparatus, including existing and new equipment

      Automate test and measurement equipment to sequence tests and collect data

      Collect and process test data, assess test results

      Present test results (both raw data and overall summary/conclusions) to colleagues and leadership

      Document practices and procedures; train and supervise technicians and interns


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical demands:

Minimum Qualifications:

      Four-year engineering degree (Electrical Engineering preferred)

      3 years of industry experience, preferably in an electronic products company

      10% travel including internationally

 

Preferred Qualifications:

      Power electronics experience

      Software/programming experience (C, Python, Labview)

      Experience with databases

      Experience with circuit design and/or PCB layout

      Familiarity with commercially available automated test equipment (ATE)

      Third party certification and testing (e.g. NRTL, FDA)

      Startup company experience

      PV, wind, or other distributed energy generation and storage

      Based out of Pika headquarters in Westbrook, ME

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel, including internationally.
