Maine-based Pika Energy, Inc. seeks a flexible Electrical Engineer to support design and manufacturing of industry-leading power converter products and solar energy storage and management solutions.  The successful candidate will have experience with consumer electronics product engineering in a high-volume context. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

      Provide engineering capacity for fast-growing product line of solar energy storage and management solutions

      Provide flexible, responsive engineering support for a fast-changing global supply chain

      Create and modify product designs and documentation

      Respond to engineering and manufacturing questions from suppliers

      Respond quickly and effectively to component supply interruptions

      Create engineering change notifications

      Build, test, and evaluate prototypes and first articles

      Assist with third-party testing and certification


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical demands:

Minimum Qualifications:

      B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

      3 years of work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

      Experience supporting NRTL certification testing (e.g. UL, Intertek, TUV, etc.)

      Software experience, especially embedded C

      Experience with power electronics/power converters

      Experience with solar, energy storage, or other clean energy technologies

      Experience with Arena PLM

Required Skills/Experience:

This role requires a versatile and flexible individual as the job tasks may vary frequently depending upon organizational demand and resources. The successful candidate must work well with others in the engineering, manufacturing, and sales organizations. Must be able to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

      Deep familiarity and experience with high-volume manufacturing of electronics products, including mixed surface mount/through-hole PCBs and electromechanical assembly

      Experience with domestic and global sourcing of electromechanical products for quality, scale, and cost reduction

      Experience and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment

      Able to read and interpret schematics and BOMs

      Experience managing engineering changes and working in a production environment

      Experience evaluating corrective and preventative actions to address quality issues

      Experience working directly with EMS suppliers on schedule, design for manufacturing, and quality

      Ability to follow standard company process while operating autonomously

      Excellent communication skills; comfortable speaking about complex issues over the phone, email, and in person.

      Proven self-starter: takes initiative and adapts to changes to bring projects to completion.

      Positive attitude, high energy individual: identifies obstacles and tackles them to meet goals

      Engineer at heart: uses intuition for electrical and mechanical engineering principles to identify issues and solutions.

Location:

      Based out of Pika headquarters in Westbrook, ME

      Travel up to 10 % as needed for partner support

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel, including internationally.
