Pika Energy, a subsidiary of Generac Power Systems, is seeking an experienced Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to support the Design Engineering and Supply Chain Operations teams in mitigating material risk and ensuring supply. The successful candidate will have experience with electronics manufacturing, knowledge of the components market, and testing to validate alternate components.

This position is based in Westbrook, Maine.

  • Review PCBA component selection early in the design phase for availability and redundancy.
  • Review PCBA BOMs for compatibility (temperature, ratings, chemistry, process).
  • Review PCB fabrication drawings and design files (gerbers).
  • Conduct PCB layout and component footprint review.
  • Solicit and respond to design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback from contract manufacturing.
  • Managing quick turn procurement for prototype PCBAs.
  • Maintain the supply chain through identification of alternate electronic components for evaluation to expand the available vendor list (AVL).
  • Work with electronics technicians to evaluate alternate and substitute components.
  • Work with the sourcing team to evaluate potential alternates to support cost reduction.
  • Provide flexible, responsive engineering support for a fast-changing global supply chain.
  • Evaluate supplier engineering change requests due to material constraints.
  • Review engineering change notifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Mitigate risk in the product development lifecycle to enable design implementation in support of supply chain goals.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2 or more years of relevant work experience in electronics manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience evaluating corrective and preventative actions to address quality issues
  • Experience working directly with part/product suppliers on schedule, design for manufacturing, and quality
  • Experience with Arena PLM
  • Working knowledge of design validation principles
  • Experience with global electronics component distribution and brokerage markets
  • Familiarity with PCBA quality control techniques and defects (tombstones, shifts bridges, fillets, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical specifications for electronic components
  • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, including conformal coating, solder paste, and wash processes
  • Familiarity with PCBA design documentation requirements for suppliers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.  Up to 10% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
