Pika Energy is seeking an Embedded/Controls Firmware Engineer. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to architect, develop, test, release and maintain software systems on embedded processors. Candidates should be passionate about performance and adding new features and functionality to our family of advanced power electronics products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to overall system architecture
  • Evaluate communication & control strategies for power converters
  • Develop and document software for safety critical applications

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical demands:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3 years’ experience in software development
  • Experience with embedded C development on a microprocessor
  • Experience designing control systems in resource-constrained environments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Digital signal processing
  • PIC microprocessor
  • Software certification processes (UL1998 or similar)
  • Power Electronics
  • Startups and rapidly-scaling companies
  • Distributed energy systems
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Experience and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel, including internationally.
