Job Summary:

Pika Energy, a division of Generac Power Systems (NYSE: Generac), is a leading provider of clean energy products including smart battery systems, inverters, power converters, and building energy management solutions.  Pika combines the pace and energy of a tech startup with the resources of a fast-growing Fortune 1000 company.  Maine-based Pika Energy, seeks an experienced, capable engineer to lead design and execution of scalable manufacturing test systems to support global manufacturing of a rapidly-growing family of clean energy products. 

The manufacturing test development engineer will be responsible for designing, prototyping, implementing, scaling, and supporting production test for a growing family of products.  He/she will work closely with leaders in Pika/Generac Engineering and Supply Chain groups as well as with an international network of contract manufacturers to implement and support production test systems globally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Integrate standard Test and Measurement equipment with in-house designed interconnect and communications assemblies
    • Program equipment to sequence tests and collect data with Labview or Python 
    • Design functional testers for Printed Circuit  Board Assemblies (PCBAs) to provide “Go / NoGo” test results using control logic, monitoring circuits and load circuits
    • Create specifications and documentation to purchase, assemble, and run the production test equipment

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical demands:

    Minimal Qualifications:
    • Four-year engineering degree (Electrical Engineering preferred)
    • At least 5 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing setting
    • Supervisory experience demonstrating ability to effectively manage technicians and engineers
    • Occasional travel required (Asia, Mexico and US)

    • Power electronics experience
    • Experience with databases 
    • Experience with PCB layout
    • Ability to analyze product "test coverage" 
    • Familiarity with commercially available automated test equipment (ATE)
    • Third party certification and testing (e.g. NRTL, FDA)
    • Startup company experience
    • Mechanical design skills including 3D CAD
    • PV, wind, or other distributed energy generation and storage
    • Labview and/or Python experience and comprehension of embedded C programming
    • Cross functional skills in circuit design, software design and mechanical fabrication
    • Ability to produce mechanical/electrical drawings/schematics
    • Basic understanding of power electronics concepts 
    • Project Management, including schedules, budgets, and resource management
