Pika Energy, a subsidiary of Generac Power Systems, seeks an experienced Platform Engineer to be based out of the Pika headquarters in Westbrook, ME. This position will play an essential role in the design, implementation and maintenance of APIs, microservices, data processing, and data storage solutions for residential renewable energy IoT systems. 

Our platform’s bidirectional control features enable advanced data collection and remote operator control. This position will be critical to delivering on our mission to expand and transform the residential solar. Pika combines the pace and energy of a tech startup with the resources of a fast-growing Fortune 1000 company in the energy market.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop communications technologies for interfacing with utility grid operators
  • Contribute platform features and new applications to embedded linux IoT product (REbus™ Beacon)
  • Develop and maintain API endpoints to enable partner, user-facing and internal monitoring and control applications
  • Architect and implement highly available, highly reliable data collection and processing pipeline for a rapidly scaling fleet of Pika IoT devices

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering and app/database design and development
  • Experience with Golang and/or Python
  • Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of software development best practices and experience with common tools, such as, Git

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience with Linux and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP and UDP
  • Knowledge in Docker and Kubernetes Containerization and Orchestration
  • Understanding of communication protocol theory
  • Ability to architect multi-platform software projects
